Kutani Foo Dog/Shishi Lion Incense Burner
A japanese Kutani incense burner in the shape of a shishi/foo lion dog. The height is 6 1/2 inches tall and 8 1/2 long. This rendering is not often seen and is wonderfully executed. The dating of this item is being put at about mid century but could be before. I am being conservative on the date of manufacturer because years ago I recall reading that it was mid century but have been unable to find the article on the internet. I would appreciate hearing from anyone who can provide written article confirming date of manufacturer.
